    • Hélène G
Helen G., you came to Armor about a year ago, can you tell us about your integration into the company?
I had the chance to arrive in mid-July, a time when the activity is a bit less intense than the rest of the year. So my new colleagues were able to organize themselves in order to spend time with me and train me. Milk cracking is a highly technical field. The integration period always goes through a training phase and I really appreciated the availability of my colleagues to communicate their knowledge to me. I was also able to visit the plants which allowed me to have a real idea of the industrial technologies and tools. These visits were organized by people who have been working there for years. I found it really nice to be able to benefit from their experience and have a little history of each plant. It is important to put things in their context.

There is another factor that has greatly contributed to my integration: the carpooling!
I live in Rennes, located about 50 km from my workplace which makes for a significant daily commute. In order to preserve the planet and to save money, we organize carpooling with colleagues. It’s also a good way to get to know people who we don’t necessarily see every day.

Audrey K., a research and development engineer at Armor, talks about the training at Bongrain Academy Can you explain to me your profession as a research and development engineer?
My work includes various assignments and is organized around different projects that I manage. I carry out trials on a pilot (in laboratory and "miniature factories" also known as pilot plants) and on an industrial scale. I analyze the test results and give my support to the industrial teams in production. I also regularly follow technology and watch the competition in order to be constantly informed of the news in the various areas related to my profession.

You have completed the training at the Bongrain Academy. Can you tell us more about this training? How long is the training? What have you learned?
The training aims to update and refresh the knowledge of the profession and to perpetuate know-how in order to improve individual performance in real operational situations. The training is composed of three parts covering a period of approximately three years. The first part of the training is focused on the scientific fundamentals (microbiology, biochemistry of milk and dairy products, processes, etc.) supervised by teacher-researchers. The second part is composed of different modules of industrial methods with concrete case studies and feedback from the participants. The last part of the training is an individual module in which each participant must present a topic related to the training and a specific project. The training concludes with a thesis and then graduation.
Through this training, I have gained a lot of knowledge in the technical and industrial field of milk. In particular, I come away from the training with in-depth knowledge in cheese-making technologies and microbiology.

Why did you choose the training at the Bongrain Academy? What are the advantages for you?
I wanted to go to the Bongrain Academy in order to enrich my scientific and technical knowledge. This training also allowed me to meet colleagues working in other factories on other topics. I learned a lot from our interactions, and now I know more about the people working in my company. This makes communication and team work easier.

Exactly what is a "World Week for Workplace Health and Safety" at Armor?
This is a week during which various workshops are set up for the staff. We involve experts who come to share their experience. For example, for a prevention workshop about road hazards, we invite the police. We also organized introductions to the use of the defibrillator and fire extinguishers with firemen. We ensure that the proposed activities are very practical and concrete. In order to reduce risk, whether at work, in the car or at home, we must change our behaviors and adapt new ones. By putting people in simulated situations, it helps to acquire the right actions.
